Statement of Faith

Our Doctrinal beliefs of The Scriptures

We believe that The Holy Scriptures are the actual words of God and are the inspired word of God written down to man and are inerrant and infallible in nature. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20; Matthew 5:18

We believe that The Bible, being the truth and literal word of God, contains all that mankind needs to be saved from sin and death through faith in Jesus Christ and has the power to help us believe, obey, equip and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 10:17

We believe the Bible is alive and is working in the lives of believers, and that through the Spirit of God it can convict, rebuke, instruct and train a person in all righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work. The Bible is the final authority for faith and life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20; Matthew 5:18

We believe The Bible is the way God communicates to people and that the only way to grow and mature in our relationship with Jesus Christ is by prayer and reading of The Word of God daily. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Trinity - We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all. Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22

God – We believe that God the Father, is Spirit. He is the infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves all who by His grace, come to Him through faith alone in His Son, Jesus Christ, from the eternal consequences of sin and death.

John 4:23-24; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 3:14; 5:20; James 1:17

Jesus, The Christ – We Believe that Jesus, the Messiah, is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully human, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His death on the cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us.

Romans 3:21-26; John 1:1; Luke 2:35; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 8:11; Hebrews 7:25

The Holy Spirit – We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment, and that He is the Divine Teacher who guides believers, enabling them to live a holy life and fulfill His command to preach the gospel to the entire world.

John 16:7-11; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Acts 1:8; 5:3-4

The Church – We believe in the universal church, in the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head of the Church, and all regenerated persons are members.

Ephesians 4:4-6; Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 3:14-15; Colossians 1:18

The plan and assurance of Salvation – We believe that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness of sin are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person acknowledges their sin, repents of their sins and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, believing and trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.

Ephesians 1:12-14; Genesis 2:15-17; Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23; Galatians 2:16; Acts 10:43; 1 John 5:13

Baptism – We believe that after a person has repented and has been forgiven by The Lord Jesus Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit for the assurance of salvation, that the new believer’s first commandment by God is to be water baptized. Water Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It is the opportunity to publicly identify ourselves with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Water baptism does not save, nor does it wash our sins away.

Therefore, it is not a requirement for salvation by grace through faith but is a pledge of a good conscience to God.

Acts 16:30-34; Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 10:47-48; 1 Peter 3:21

The Lord’s Supper – We believe in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper also known as the Holy Communion, which is the commemoration of the atoning death of our Lord Jesus Christ until He comes. This symbolic “meal” is to be shared only by believers as a remembrance of the body and blood of Christ which ratified the New Covenant between God and man through Jesus.

Matthew 26:26-30; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Spiritual Gifts - We Believe that the Bible clearly delineates that spiritual gifts are for the edification of the body and that they are to be exercised in order and in love.

1 Corinthians 12:4-31; 13:1-4; 1 Corinthians 14:12; 1 Corinthians 14:26-40

Gender Identity - We believe that God has affirmed throughout Scripture the genders of the human race as male and female only and that He has created both in His image and so that both male and female are united to produce life. (Genesis 1:26-28)

God’s design for a Covenant Marriage - We believe marriage was and is an institution ordained by God as a sacred covenantal union between a man and a woman, and that a marriage covenant is a reflection of the covenant relationship between Christ and His Church. Scripture therefore limits sexual relations to monogamous, heterosexual marriage only. Therefore, any proposed marriage between men and women of the same sex is in violation of God’s Word and His sovereign design for marriage and is therefore sin.

Ephesians 5:22-33; Genesis 2:24

Children both born and not yet born - We believe that all children, including the unborn, are God’s image bearers, because Scripture designates unborn babies as children from the moment of conception by using the same terms for children, both when in the womb and after the moment of birth. Therefore, unborn children possess inherent value and worth, and abortion in all its forms is morally unjustified and is the indefensible taking of human life; in short, abortion is murder. (Psalm 139:15-16; Jeremiah 1:5)

By clarifying some of what we believe, we hope to provide better insight into who God is and who we are as a Church of believers and followers of Jesus Christ.
